Both setups solve the same problem — not enough screen — in opposite ways. An ultrawide gives one uninterrupted canvas; dual monitors give a hard physical division between contexts. Neither is better in general, and the right answer depends on how you work rather than on pixel counts.

The practical differences come down to three things: whether you want a bezel in the middle, whether your software handles window snapping well, and whether one of your screens needs to be a different orientation or distance.

What actually matters
