A gaming monitor is only as good as the frames your graphics card can feed it. Buying a 4K 240 Hz panel for a mid-range card produces a beautiful display running well below its capability, which is an expensive way to gain nothing.

Match resolution to your card first, then spend the remaining budget on panel quality and refresh rate. For most people that means 1440p, high refresh, and a panel technology chosen by what they play.
